イギリスのアーティスト Jay Cover, William Luz, Nicolas Burrows の３人で構成する集団 “Nous Vous” による新作展を神宮前のユトレヒト/ Utrecht で開催します。展示する作品はすべて今回の企画のために制作したもので、Nous Vousとしての個展は日本で初の開催です。
伝統文化や民話からのインスピレーション、現代の都市生活、自然界との関連性などを三人がそれぞれに掘り下げ、プリント、スカルプチャー、ドローイングなど様々な形で表現しました。
今回の展示に合わせて ZINEセットも販売します。

2007年結成。当初は私的な”ドローイングクラブ”として結成されたものの、ほどなくビジュアルアートの制作を行うクリエイティブスタジオとして活動を開始。Domino Records, Facebook, Tate Gallery、大英博物館、ナイキをはじめとする様々なクライアントに対し、イラストやグラフィックデザイン、アートディレクション、アニメーション等、幅広い形のクリエーションで関わる。

アウトサイダー・アートやモダニストデザインの影響を受け、主にコラージュやアブストラクトアート、人物をモチーフとした作品を制作。
The New York Times, Airbnb, Domino Records などをクライアントに持つ。
ゾウによるゾウのためのホテルを描いた絵本 ”The Elephant Hotel” は 2016 ELCAF x Wetransfer Award を受賞。Camberwell College of Arts の講師も務める。

<William Luz>
色と形、物体と動きなど、目の前にある世界を少し違った形で表現した作品が特徴。Aesop, The Barbican, Nike, Facebookへのデザイン提供のほか、The Smudge paper に定期的にコラムを掲載。

線、形、人物にフォーカスし、人と場所とをユーモアやメタファーと共に表現した作品多数。主なクライアントは Princeton Architectural Press, London center for Book Arts, Monocle, Pavillion Books, Apartmento Magazine, A.P.C., Colophon Founderyなど。

FOLK is a collection of new work by UK collective Nous Vous, exploring the interactions between storytelling, the built environment and the natural world. Taking inspiration from traditional cultures, Japanese folk tales and modern city living, Jay Cover, William Luz and Nicolas Burrows present prints, sculptures, drawing and a new publication.
Nous Vous began in 2007 as an informal ‘drawing ‘club’, quickly evolving into a creative studio and collaborative visual art practice. Since then they have produced work for clients like Domino Records, Facebook, The Contemporary Art Society, Tate, The British Museum, The New York Times, Nike, Walker Arts Center & Honda. They’ve worked on a broad range of projects including illustration & graphic design commissions, exhibitions, art direction, animation, publishing and educational programs.
Nicolas Burrows works primarily with collage, creating abstract and figurative compositions influenced by outsider art and modernist design. He has made work for The New York Times, Domino Records, Airbnb, Vevo, Modus and The Idler. He is the author/illustrator of the award-winning children’s book ‘The Elephant Hotel’.
Nicolas is a Lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts.
William Luz’s work is concerned with colour and form, he is interested in objects, movement and finding new ways of representing the seen world, with an emphasis on not knowing. He’s created work for Aesop, The Barbican, Nike, and Facebook, has exhibited internationally and writes a regular column in The Smudge paper.
Jay Cover’s work focuses on line, form and character. Often working with metaphor or interweaving people & places with humourous sensibility. He has created work for Princeton Architectural Press, London Centre For Book Arts, Monocle, Pavillion Books, Apartmento Magazine. A.P.C., Colophon Foundry & Field Projects.
